Lokomotiv head coach Leonid Kuchuk had a press-conference after the return game against Apollon (1:4).
- What was that and how to go on?
- I can’t explain it yet. There’s nothing that happens by chance. I can’t say we didn’t want to win. We dominated before the first goal but failed once and a counter-attack produced an opener. Apollon were able to reach our penalty area and score. We had five dead chances but scored nothing. I can’t explain it to myself yet.
When we missed a second goal, the team forgot about the midfield and rushed forward. We became an easy target for a counter-attack and that’s exactly what happened.
I want to apologize to the Lokomotiv fans, I feel very uncomfortable myself. They say a birthday is a sad holiday.
- Can you link this defeat to a low level of the national championship?
- There can be any result. On the contrary, in our league the teams are tough. I don’t even want to compare. It happened and it’s a fact. We lost and I think every player feels uncomfortable, not just me. We trained hard, we put so much strength in it – and all in vain.
