Boris was born on May 19, 1986 in Leningrad. At the age of seven, he was accepted to FC Ponnistus Football School in Finland. Soon he moved to HIK, and later to Jokerit where he was scouted to the Finland national team.
In 2006 the defender signed with Zenit. The Blue-White-Sky Blues loaned him out to Shinnik, Saturn, Khimki, Makkabi, and Alania. In 2011 Boris signed with Dynamo Moscow who loaned him out to Kuban a year later and Olympiakos from Cyprus the following year.
In Season 2015/16 Rotenberg played for Rostov who finished in the second place.
Boris made his international debut for Finland on June 9th, 2015 against Estonia.

I remember Lokomotiv since childhood when the team grew stronger every year and were successful in Europe. I have played against the team many times and I imagine the degree of rivalry in all positions
